Description of the indoor unit and its controls

The main control of the indoor unit, and the whole air conditioner, is the remote controller. When it malfunctions or there is no remote controller available, you can use AVTO/COOL manual control button to start it. In most domestic split systems, this button is located under the front panel of the indoor unit on the right side. Lift the front panel to gain access. To do this, release the panel ends on the left and right where the quick release latches are located. Open the panel and lift up to the locked position or until it clicks. To close the panel, press the lower ends on both sides and close as far as they will go. No gap at the sides of the panel indicates that it is in place.

When you press the manual control button, the air conditioner operates in the following modes: “AUTO”, “COOL”, “OFF”. (Temperature default setting is 24°C). This method should only be used in extreme cases. In all other cases, use remote controller.

How to adjust the airflow

For comfortable usage, the air flow direction must be set so that the air flow is evenly distributed in the room.Do not direct the flow to a person in the room at all times.

Vertical flow direction is controlled by remote control. Horizontal flow direction is adjusted manually by turning the grille (in most cases). Airflow cannot be controlled when the air conditioner is off or during the standby period set by the ON/OFF timer on the remote controller. Make sure that your air conditioner does not operate for a long time in cooling modes with the air flow set downward. Otherwise, moisture can occur on the louvers. Do not move the blinds with your hands when the indoor unit is in operation. This can cause the entire split system to malfunction, stopping and restarting. When restarting, the vertical louver can be immobilized for 10 seconds. Each time the louver is started, it goes to the default central position. Vertical airflow direction is possible automatically and manually depending on the operation mode. Adjustable always and only from the remote control. SWING button.

General tips for using the remote controller

1) Do not use old batteries or different types of batteries. Take the batteries out of the remote control if you don’t use it for a long time. Otherwise electrolyte leakage may damage the remote controller. 2) Batteries have an average life of about six months in normal use. That is one summer season. For alkaline batteries up to 24 months. 3) Separate batteries from the remote control when moving or changing humidity. 4) Replace the batteries when the air conditioner does not respond to the remote controller signal and the indicator does not light. If remote control board glows weakly, you also need to replace batteries. 5) In case of infringement of these requirements, the remote control can be out of order.

Description of operation principle

In this mode, your air conditioner selects the operation mode according to the manufacturer’s specifications. Most often 24 degrees Celsius. Measuring the temperature inside the room sets the mode that is suitable relative to 24 degrees. If the temperature in the room is higher than 242 degrees Celsius, then the cooling mode is activated. If it is less than 24-2 degrees, the heating mode is selected. If the temperature is close to 24 degrees just ventilate.

Main cooling mode

If you press the sleep button in cooling, heating or auto mode, the air conditioner will. The fan speed will be set automatically if one of the fan modes is not set manually. After an hour of operation, the operating temperature is set at 1 degree higher than the temperature set on the remote control, after two hours by 2 degrees. In 7 hours the conditioner will automatically switch off. As a result, the air temperature in the room remains comfortable enough. Not too much dehumidification and overcooling of the air. Suitable for continuous operation not only at night but also during the day to achieve more comfortable conditions.

In this mode, there will be periodic air cooling at regular intervals, depending on the air temperature in the room and set on the remote control. E.g. one minute of cooling, three minutes of just ventilating.

Operation in ventilation air mode

Only indoor unit of split system works in this mode. The indoor air is forced through a strainer to remove large particles such as dust and debris. efficient with optional filters.

Heating operation In this mode, air conditioner units are swapped. The indoor unit starts to dump excess heat, and the outdoor unit cools the outside. When it is very cold outdoors, the outdoor unit may freeze. For automatic defrosting, most models are equipped with an auto-defrosting system. cooling mode is activated for a while until the ice is melted in the outdoor unit of the air conditioner.

How to Care

To take care of the remote control, use a dry cloth, special plastic care products or a cloth soaked in an alcohol solution. Do not use thinner or acetone, it can cause damage to plastic.

Main action for user is external inspection of air conditioner and washing of internal block filters.

Before cleaning, be sure to turn off your air conditioner and unplug the power cord from the outlet.

Open the front panel and take out each strainer in turn. Be careful not to catch the radiator of the indoor unit. Some models have additional filters, disconnect them from the main strainer.

Soak the strainers in warm water to clean off dirt. Then rinse under running water. Do not use cleaning agents. Extra filters are not meant for repeated use, they must be replaced after 3-4 washes.

turn, split, system

After you have washed filters should be put back in the same order as you took them out. Do not force the filters through, everything should snap into place effortlessly. Do not make any sudden movements that may damage evaporator or strainer.

Clean the filter from dust as often as possible, because a dirty filter reduces the efficiency of the whole air conditioner.

If the evaporator of the indoor unit is very dirty use the services of a qualified specialist to clean it. In case you decide to do it yourself try not to damage the plates.

Outer block of a conditioner requires a radiator cleaning and periodic charging with freon.

How it works, working condition

Most models have a three-minute delay of re-start. This function provides your split system with protection against restarting immediately after its stopping (only for “Hot/Cold” models).

In a heating mode the preparation for work in a premise is made. The air delivery into the premise is not made, the outside block of the conditioner works to prepare the system for the work. The indoor unit will not operate for 5 to 10 minutes depending on the outdoor temperature. This time is necessary to prepare the indoor unit to work at full power. You should not think that your conditioner is broken, it simply prepares for operation.

As soon as the temperature in the room reaches the set point on the remote control, the fan speed will decrease and the split system will switch to temperature maintenance mode. Note that the temperature sensor is located at the top of the indoor unit below the ceiling, so the room temperature may be lower than the set temperature to maintain. During this time, the outdoor unit will be stopped.

If the outdoor unit starts to freeze in heating mode, the heat exchanger of the outdoor unit is automatically defrosted. This mode lasts 5 to 10 minutes, during this time the indoor unit light will blink. During defrosting, the fans of both units will stop. During this mode, the water from the outdoor unit will drain into the drip tray and drip through the lower hole of the outdoor unit.

When heating, the air conditioner works on the principle of heat pump by taking out the heat from outside air and giving it to the air inside the room. The lower the ambient temperature where the outdoor unit is, the lower its efficiency. It is recommended to use other heating devices simultaneously with the air conditioner, if the outside air temperature becomes too low

Any obstacle to the free circulation of outside air through the outdoor unit will cause the air conditioner’s heating or cooling capacity to drop as a result. When operating in heating mode and in sub-zero temperatures outside, the melt water from defrosting the outdoor unit can accumulate and freeze. In this regard, it is necessary to ensure the proper drainage system. Including contamination of the radiator with leaves, fluff or other debris if the outdoor unit is installed low.

In case of an emergency power cut, the air conditioner completely stops its operation. The indoor unit lights will start blinking when the power supply is restored. After restarting, it will select the last operation mode during which the power supply was cut.

Malfunctions can be caused by lightning, voltage fluctuations in the mains, mechanical damage.

Air conditioner modes and their designations

For convenient air conditioner setting the split-system is equipped with several different modes which have different functions and purpose. All modes can be selected by pressing Mode, Set and Select buttons on the remote control. As a rule, they are located directly underneath the remote control display.

Cool mode

Cool mode is translated as “cool” or “cooling. Activated when the room temperature needs to be reduced. In most models of climate technics it is designated by a pictogram in the form of a snowflake.

An inscription or an arrow pointing at the temperature can also appear on the remote control. Minimal point of the thermometer is 16° C. Control of air temperature in a premise is carried out with the help of sensor, which is built in a conditioner (except mode Feel).

Cool mode is automatically reactivated when room temperature rises by 2-3° C.

Heat mode

Heat button is designed for activation of heating mode if it is provided in a particular splitsystem model. The maximum temperature for space heating is 30°C.

Air conditioner can have technical restrictions on the use of heating mode at minus outdoor temperature. from.5 ° C to.15 ° C.

If air conditioner is off before, it takes about five minutes to start air heating. Device change from cooling to heating takes up to 10 minutes, depending on equipment modification.

For switching to Heat mode on Oasis, Akvilon and Zerten models you need to remove batteries for 5-10 minutes, put them back and only after that turn on the desired mode.

Mode Fan

Fan mode ensures an even temperature in the room.

This mode shuts down the compressor in the outdoor unit, t.е. This mode disables the outdoor unit’s compressor, i.e. does not cool or heat the room.

When the option is activated, the diode on the remote control lights up and the corresponding inscription or the image of the fan appears on the display.

Dry mode

Dry mode is used to reduce the humidity level in the room. It can help prevent mold or mildew in the room.

When the Dry button is pressed, the basic principle is to cool the air by 1° to 2° C and to slowly circulate it through the radiator. The condensate collected in the condensate tray and discharged to the outside through the drain.

Runs for 10 minutes. Then, after a five-minute break, the Fan Turbo mode is automatically activated for two minutes.

Feel Mode

The Feel mode is an air conditioner option that uses artificial intelligence to determine the user’s comfort temperature based on the user’s previous settings and preferences.

After starting the mode the microprocessor of split-system will set the necessary parameter and will remember it for further use. The air conditioner will automatically adjust its operating parameters to achieve the temperature level, which was stored in the memory of the processor during the last setting.

In order to change the parameters chosen by the device, you must enter the standard mode of air temperature adjustment and set the new indicators.

Some air conditioner remote controls are equipped with built-in sensors for recording temperatures. Device adjusts its operation in accordance with the parameters received from sensors.

Data received with the help of sensors built into air conditioner remote controller can differ by several degrees from the results of measurements made with similar devices which are built into the internal block of air conditioner.

How to set the air conditioner to cold air

conditioner is able to cool a premise up to 16-18 C, but such temperature is seldom required. Makers of split-systems recommend to keep 5 degrees difference between street temperature and installed. This eliminates the sudden drop that could cause cardiovascular problems.

Setting for cold consists of 6 steps:

  • Press ON button on the inside unit box (usually on the right side). A beep sound should be heard.
  • Then we should switch on the air conditioner by pressing ON button on the remote controller. Then the louvers will open.
  • Using Mode we select the desired mode, which is cooling. Wait for the snowflake or the word Cool to appear on the remote control.
  • Set required temperature by pressing Temp ( ).
  • Using Fan we select optimal speed of airflow. If initial speed is satisfactory, you can skip this step.
  • Use the Swing button to direct the flow in the desired direction.

It takes some time for the air conditioner to bring up the set temperature. Once the appliance has reached the correct parameters, it shuts down. If you have an inverter model, it will just slow down without turning off.

It is not necessary to turn off the air conditioner at night. Just set values for 1-2 degrees higher and you will be comfortable.

Safety rules

You should also not forget about the rules when using the air conditioner. So it is worth to tell about some of them further:

  • It is not good to have a big difference in temperature between inside and outside the building. Such changes can affect your health badly and cause different diseases, from simple cold to asthma.
  • Set a comfortable temperature for the human body of 25-27 degrees at night.
  • If you have the cooling mode, you should not direct it to the place where there are people at the moment and for a long time, in order to avoid health problems.
  • In the children’s room, it is also recommended to set the temperature on par with that in the room of adults.
  • In summer, when in many buildings the split-systems work continuously, it is worth to make short pauses. This will be good for people and for the appliance itself.

How the dehumidification function works in the air conditioner

While working in cooling mode split-system always dries the air. Warm air flows get on the radiator and condense. Drip hose drains humidity obtained after that to the street. As a result up to 2 liters of condensate can evaporate in a day.

When dehumidifying function of air conditioner is activated, there is almost the same process, only with some peculiarities of splitsystem operation.

  • Cool, indicated by a snowflake.
  • Heat. heating, there is a sun icon.
  • Dry. dehumidification, icon. drop.
  • Fan speed. ventilation, a propeller is shown near the inscription.
  • Sleep. night auto mode.
  • Timer. timer.
  • Swing. direction of airflow by means of shutters.

How to set the air conditioner to cold air

  • Press ON button on the case of indoor unit (usually it is on the right side).
  • Then it is necessary to switch on the air conditioner by pushing “ON” on the remote controller.
  • Press “Mode” to select the desired mode, i.e. cooling.
  • With “Temp”” (“, “-“) sets the desired temperature.

Sleep

This is so called night mode. In translation from English Sleep. “sleep”, “sleep”. In this mode conditioner works in different manufacturers’ way. Here are some examples of night mode operation:

  • Reduces the blowing speed;
  • Temperature is rising gradually by 1-4 degrees;
  • The backlight or indicators on the unit become less bright;
  • Preset settings come into play;
  • Several of the above at the same time.

Depending on the conditioner model and manufacturer, Sleep mode can work:

Blower Fan Motor Won’t Shut off!- STEP by STEP Troubleshooting!

  • Immediately after turning on;
  • After some time (30 minutes, an hour, 2 hours, etc.); After a certain time the fan runs.д.);
  • Gradual (increase temperature slowly, decrease blower speed);
  • By timer at a preset time.

Do not neglect the Sleep function. During sleep the temperature of human body falls, the processes are slowed down. We are becoming more vulnerable to disease. Sharp temperature fluctuations. Without using Sleep mode, you risk of falling ill, getting a bad night’s sleep.

Mode means “operating mode” in Russian. This button on the air conditioner remote control is similar to “Set” and “Select”. You need it to switch between modes. Depending on the model it will be:

Switching between modes is done by pressing a button in sequence. It is activated some time after selecting. Sometimes it is necessary to operate the left-right or up-down arrows. In this case the function is activated by pressing the button again.

Common air conditioner modes

The basic functions of an air-conditioning unit are in every classic product, and they have symbols and inscriptions in English for the air-conditioner modes. However, most of these words require a translation.

In this row, you can identify the functions of the air conditioner in the form of the following signs and symbols:

  • Cool. cool, indicated by a snowflake.
  • Heat. heating, there is a sun icon.
  • Dry. dehumidification, the icon is a drop.
  • Fan speed. ventilation, a propeller is shown next to the inscription.
  • Sleep. night auto mode. Star symbol.
  • Timer is a timer. Picture of clock.
  • Swing. direction of air stream by means of shutters.
  • Lock. child lock button.

When choosing an air conditioner for your home, it is usually determined primarily by energy consumption, and, of course, the minimum possible operations. And though functions of air conditioner: dehumidification, ventilation, ionization and disinfection are not so evident at first sight, but they significantly increase comfort of living when using them.
