Module types
Technically the easiest way to get the perfect cabinet for the oven is to call specialists who know how the dimensions of the furniture depend on the dimensions of the oven itself, understand all the subtleties, and, in general, assemble the cabinet already around the existing unit. In the other two cases, the task is somewhat more complicated. we should clearly understand what we are looking for or will collect.
Quite often the hob and oven, even purchased separately, are still furnished as if they were closed into a single floor frame. The result resembles a classic one-piece stove with the difference that the design can also incorporate a pull-out shelf, which will be located at ground level, raising the oven, or between it and the cooking surface. The advantages of this approach are a significant savings in kitchen space and the calculation for the owners of about any height. However, there are also disadvantages: the low-lying oven is not always easy to reach, and there is even a risk that the hostess will not like baking simply because she is not comfortable doing it.
A major advantage of the stand-alone oven is that it can be used completely separate from the hob.
In these circumstances, you can take care that access to it was extremely convenient. for this, the technique can be placed in a separate cabinet, which will be raised to about chest level. The easiest solution will be to install the design on a stand with drawers, although then access will be more complicated already to them. Or you can even hang the cabinet on the wall, pre-fastening it securely.
Keep in mind that when buying a cabinet, even if it fits the size, but is not made specifically to store the oven in it, you will have to calculate the further modification of the furniture. Regardless of the type of power supply, the oven will require access to utilities. an electric socket or gas pipe. and the holes for them must be in exactly the right place. From all of the above, we can conclude that an independent (or handmade by craftsmen to order) construction will be a much more practical solution.
What should be a cabinet under the built-in oven
All electric ovens come in the same standard and have the same dimensions. Regardless of the manufacturer, they are designed to be built into a 600 mm wide cabinet or basement.
The aperture under the oven height, should also be 600 millimeters (taking into account the cabinet strip, which is offset down relative to the upper edge of the side by 10 millimeters).
The depth of the box is designed in accordance with the dimensions of the countertop for which it is designed. Standard tabletop has a width (in our case. depth) of 600 millimeters. So, taking into account the clearances, the depth of the box will be within 450-550 millimeters.
A detailed drawing of the box under the oven with the internal dimensions of the niche for the insertion is usually contained in the instructions to the cabinet itself.
Operating with the values given above, the total height of the box is selected. In the selection of this height and there is “all the salt” of calculating this box.
The fact that if the total height of the kitchen will be less than a certain size, then in the opening between the two lower horizons of the box, it will be impossible to install a drawer. It would be too narrow and therefore non-functional. And this is not a good use of the free space in the box.
Well, a very high box to design too will not work, as increasing the height of the bottom modules of the kitchen set above the norm. the reason for the discomfort associated with its use (when the countertop is too high from the floor, it is uncomfortable to work on it).
A non-standard variant
Non-standard ovens have many advantages. They are placed at human head level, above and below the countertop. Such ovens are not dangerous for children, they are very easy to use. If the oven is located non-standard, it is much better when its door is hinged and opens to the left or right. But non-standard ovens also have some very important drawbacks for customers: They are, for example, very energy-hungry and very expensive. However, they compare favorably with standard models because they have wider functionality.
Non-standard ovens should be installed on perfectly flat surfaces. It is better to entrust the implementation of installation work to experienced professionals, always taking into account the rules of safety. If the oven is not installed correctly, it can break down quickly. In order for the device to function as long as possible, it is necessary to think carefully about where it will be located.
Preliminary points
Hobs and ovens come in gas and electric. Connecting the equipment to the gas supply network requires permission of a professional. a gas technician. Therefore, we will touch on the installation with their own hands only electrical equipment.
Installation of the connection point to the mains
First of all, the oven must be installed close to the cabinet. The open rear opening of the cabinet allows you to easily install the electrical connector on the wall on the back of the furniture. Так как две единицы кухонного оборудования достаточно мощные, установите розетку с двумя гнёздами и заземлением.
Hobs and ovens are not equipped with plugs. So whether to make a socket for them, you decide for yourself. In my house I connected the cable of the panel in parallel with the oven to the power from the entrance through the terminals. There is a separate 32 amp circuit breaker for this lead in the house panel.
Preparing the Wiring
If the three-core cables of the oven and cooktop are not equipped with connectors, you must connect them to plugs with grounding terminals. The length of the wires should be such that you can connect the appliances and test their function before installing them.

The drawings are at
In the accompanying documentation, manufacturers usually specify the dimensions of the built-in oven and cooktop. If you don’t have one, use a tape measure and a ruler to measure the oven yourself. Write down the data on a separate sheet of paper.
Look up the drawings of the cabinet on the Internet. Print them out on a printer. Compare dimensions with your measurement. Usually the standard dimensions are the same. Otherwise, size the cabinet to fit your appliances.
You should understand that if the height, width and depth of the cabinet opening on the drawing is more or less than your oven, you need to add or reduce the dimensions of the cabinet parts accordingly. After adjusting the dimensions, draw your drawing. When calculating the dimensions of the planes, consider the thickness of the adjoining parts.

Varieties of cabinets for the hob and oven
The box for the oven is a must in the kitchen if the oven is a recessed type. It can be installed anywhere.
Oven drawers and cabinets
There are two structural options for placing the oven:
Each of these types has its own advantages and disadvantages.
The box under the hob is a classic option.
The positives of such placement:
- Cooking is concentrated in one place, making it easier to care for the device, saving time and energy of the cook.
- Retains the look of a standard kitchen stove with the original design of the cooktop and oven.
- Convenient for people of any height.
Negative aspects of combining:
- Cooking in the oven requires constant bending.
- It is inconvenient to get a hot tray or roaster.
- Washing the inside surface is done in a bent position.
- Water from the stove gets on the electronic control system.
When placed in the pen will be a plus:
- The possibility of cooking and washing the oven without tilting;
- Selecting the positioning of the unit according to the height of the cook;
- Creating a modern kitchen design.
The disadvantage may be the fragility of the construction, on which the oven is placed, which can weigh more than 30-40 kg.

And here’s the difference between an induction hob and an electric hob, and which one you should choose, listed here.
Can I put it next to the gas pipe?
The main gas supply system is characterized by an increased danger. All alterations and remodeling in homes with gas are regulated by the relevant regulations. If the rules are violated, inspectors of gas companies have the right to issue fines. For example, the gas pipe may not be hidden behind walls, niches and partitions. Equipment and furniture must not obstruct it. The law has a clear rule that the gas pipe must be located on an open wall. It should be freely accessible.
The gas pipe may not be located under the sink and behind the dishwasher, the same rule applies to the installation of the oven. At least 0.3 m clearance to the sides of the appliance. The ventilation duct, window/door openings and chimney must not touch this element of the gas system. Electric wire with the gas line can be at a distance of at least 0.1 meters.
If the laying is parallel, the parameter increases to 0.4 meters.
The installation of the gas stopcocks must be carried out in accordance with strict requirements. For example, the place must be easily accessible, permissible height of 0.8 meters from the floor. From the gas appliance must be indented, equal to 0.2 meter. This is if the device is installed at the bottom, and the permissible values for the upper installation are 1.5 meters from the surface.
The number of shut-off valves must be equal to the number of gas devices.
Welding is permitted to connect the devices. Threaded connections are possible at the installation point of the shut-off valve as well as at the pipe connection to the device.
Calculations of the kitchen cabinet
As a rule, in the manual to the oven there is not only information about the size of the model itself, but also the requirements for the installation niche. It’s worth taking advantage of this in your calculations.
The dimensions of the cabinet under the oven are the same as the installation recess plus the thickness of the material used. In essence, it is a box with a double bottom. horizontals 1 and 2 and a horizontal rung on top. the housing bar. The latter is required for the normal attachment of the hob to the worktop. In addition, this detail maintains the distance between the sides, which is also important.

First it is necessary to make calculations, then from the sheets of particleboard or fiberboard cut the following parts:
- sidewalls. the sum of the height of the niche, the thickness of the tabletop and the height of the legs. 2 pcs;
- Horizon. that is, the bottom, the dimensions are equal to the exact parameters of the installation niche. the depth and width. 2 pcs;
- cabinet strip. its length is equal to the width of the recess, and its own width does not exceed 100 mm.
Rear wall of the drawer, as a rule, is not included in the detailing: it is made of scrap wood fiberboard. Its height usually does not exceed 100 mm.
The details of the drawer are calculated using the residual method. To do this is not difficult:
- The height of the front is equal to the difference of the height of the kitchen cabinet, the height of the legs and the thickness of the first horizon. The facade does not overlap it due to the installation of the oven. The width corresponds to 60 cm minus 3 mm. As a rule, there is no handle: to make it more convenient to use, they make a recess on the second horizon;
- The side parts are equal in length to the depth of the cabinet minus the gaps, and in height to the distance between the two horizons minus the gaps;
- The length of the back wall takes into account the thickness of the two sides and the thickness of the rails.
The chipboard or hardboard can be cut to size in the workshop: with professional equipment, it takes much less time to cut the pattern and the accuracy is guaranteed. In addition, in most cases, the same parts are edged here. they close the ends with a melamine strip. Otherwise, the operation will have to be done with your own hands.
Product assembly
The kitchen cabinet under the oven and cooktop is assembled with screws or dowels. The fastening of the latter is duplicated with glue. Holes for them are drilled beforehand.
- First you need to assemble the box itself. sides and horizontals.
- Then, fix the cabinet rail, lowering it to 10 mm from the edge of the sidewall.
- To the bottom of the product you need to attach the legs with self-tapping screws.
- If it is decided to make a drawer, then, before installing the first horizon, mount the rails on the walls. hinged or telescopic.
- Install the back wall.
- Assemble the product and install it on rails.
The cabinet under the oven with his hands ready. In the photo, you can see the product, not inferior to even the famous brands, like Ikea.
Full extension telescopic guides with dimensions of 550 mm are used as pull-out elements in this section.
The red line next to the size is the edge. This means that this end of the piece is front (visible) and must be faced with a furniture edge. If there are two lines, it means that the edging is glued to both ends of the part of the corresponding size.
In the given detailing of the kitchen section (module), the dimensions are given without taking into account the thickness of the edge.
Furniture edge thicknesses up to 0,6 mm do not need to be included in the workpiece size
The size of the part will need to be reduced by the corresponding edge thickness if the edge, for example ABS, is 1 or 2 mm thick. For example: Width of workpiece 400 mm., 2 mm thick edge. You need to glue both sides of the piece. Then the width of the workpiece must be corrected for the thickness of the sealing lip. Т.е. It is 400. 2 mm 2 mm. = 396 mm.
The cabinet under the oven with his hands
A recessed oven is very convenient. This device is an independent “player” in the kitchen and can be installed in places where you can not put a classic oven combined with a cooktop.
The stove top is a very important part of a modern kitchen. This is where the oven, hob, and storage drawer are built in. Such cabinets have indents for ventilation of the device, which distinguishes them from conventional cabinets.
Interesting fact! The first built-in ovens appeared more than half a century ago. These devices are now the best-selling in the world, despite the prevalence of classic oven models.
